vRA7 Endpoint Setup and Fabric Setup

IaaS and Fabric administrators configure the resources for the existing infrastructure to work with vRealize Automation and allocates the infrastructure resources to vRealize Automation business groups.

The diagram shows the flow of things happening from the administrators side.

Create Endpoint Credentials

Log in to the vRealize Automation console as an IaaS administrator.

1. Select Infrastructure > Endpoints > Credentials.
2. Click New Credentials.
3. Enter a name in the Name text box.
4. (Optional) Enter a description in the Description text box.

Create vSphere Endpoint

1. Select Infrastructure > Endpoints > Endpoints.

2. Select New Endpoint > Virtual > vSphere.

3. Enter a name in the Name text box. Usually this is the vcenter fqdn name. Record this name somewhere.

4. Enter a description if you want.

5. Enter the URL for the vCenter Server instance in the Address text box. Like below format,

 https://<hostname or IP_address>/sdk

6. Select the Credentials for the endpoint that we created in previous step.

7. Specify manager for network and security platform if you are using vCNS or NSX for networking options. This is not required at the moment.

8. Click OK.

Note: Do not rename the vSphere assets after discovery as it may cause provisioning to fail

  1. Hey Mate

My install of vRealize completed successfully but when I log into the portal as the IaaS administrator I do not get the infrastructure tab. as a matter of fact I only have the administration tab

when I try and click on the fabric configuration nothing happens.

I thought it to be a browser issue, but the same is happening on all 3 major browsers.

    Any ideas?

I have give the whole environment a reboot a few times.

    1. Sure, the user you using to log in, did you add him to the IaaS admins. Step number 5 in this post: http://thevshish.blogspot.in/2016/04/tenant-setup.html

Are you using SSO or LDAP?

  2. You won't believe me, but I was planning to write a blog very similar to the one you have posted here. Great work!
