Install vCNA also known as vShield Manager 5.x

1. First of all download vCNA OVA from VMware.com download page. They should look something like below.




2. Import the OVA in the vCenter using "Deploy OVF Template".


3. Complete the Wizard with necessary details and power on the VM. Once all good the login prompt should look something like below,

If you get an error like "System startup is not complete. Please logout and log back in after a few minutes". Then you must do that. Type "Exit" and log back in after few minutes.


4. Use the default credentials as "admin" and "default" as Username and Password.

5. Once through, type "enable" to get started.


6. Type "setup" to setup the vSheild Manager with the networking details like, IP, Subnet Mask, DNS, Gateway, Domain. Select "Y" to save it in the end.


7. To confirm if the network settings were OK, just ping any other server from the command prompt.

8. Exit the manager login. And we are done.

9. Access the vShield Manager from the browser, using the same IP that you registered in previous step number 6. If everything is right, then it should look something like below,


10. Next is to register the vCenter server in the vShield Manager.
