So whats the take when the vCenter goes down, I found a very interesting topic from the vSphere Design Book by Scott Lowe, so here is snippet below, what will work and what will not, when the vCenter is down,

There are 3 steps to be followed here,

1. Do the healthcheck of the Virtual Connect components.
2. Take the backup of Virtual Connect.
3. Upgrade the Virtual Connect firmware.
