Endpoint & Agent Configuration

Once you are logged in using the added account in the previous post you should see a page similar to below, we will now add Endpoints.

Endpoints are nothing but the resources in terms of Cloud or physical infrastructure that will be consumed by the vCAC Virtual Machine during the deployment.

First add the credentials, this is the credential that will have access to the Endpoints. It is recommended to have a dedicated account for this.

Once done, add the new endpoint as show below. Here you will see the endpoints depending on the type of license you have. Select vSphere endpoint,

Enter the required details. Note that, the Endpoint name must match the name that was entered during the IaaS installation.

Once done click OK and verify the newly created Endpoint.

Now we need is to get all the inventory details to sync with the vCAC portal. This is something to do with Data Collection that happens after the Endpoint addition. It usually takes some time for the Data Collection to happen.

To get this done quickly, goto, Infrastructure --> Compute Resources. Move the mouse to appropriate Compute Resource and select data collection,

Click on the Request now to initiate the Data Collection.

Now Goto 'Agents' tab under Endpoints to add an agent. Agents are the entities used to provision and manage machines and services on Hypervisors (vSphere, Hyper-V etc..), External provisioning infrastructure (EPI), Virtual Desktop Infrastructures (VDIs), Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) through endpoints.

To add agent is very simple and straightforward, make sure you are able to see the agent name in the drop down. This is the same agent name that was given at the time of IaaS deployment.
